The Regional Secretariat for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, through the Crafts and Design Centre of the Azores (CADA), promotes the 3rd edition of the Azores Christmas Crafts Fair at the Pavilhão do Mar, Portas do Mar, in Ponta Delgada from December 7 to 12.
The event will feature 84 craft production units from eight of the nine islands of the archipelago – São Miguel, Pico, Faial, Terceira, Graciosa, Flores, Corvo and São Jorge in an exhibition that shows products certified under the collective brand “Azorean Handicrafts” and also the works of two artisans from the island of Madeira.
With free admission, the largest exhibition and commercial event of the regional crafts sector may be visited on December 7, 11 and 12 from 6 to 11 pm and on December 8, 9 and 10 from 2 to 11 pm.
The official opening of the Azores Christmas Crafts Fair will officially open on December 7 at 6 pm. The event will be attended by the Regional Secretary for Youth, Vocational Training and Employment, Maria João Carreiro.
In addition to promoting and selling craft products on display, this Christmas market dedicated to Azorean handicrafts also includes daily workshops on techniques for crafting “Lapinha” (sea-themed) nativity scenes, textile Christmas ornaments and macramé, among other techniques, as well as itinerant entertainment.
