Handicraft markets or fairs continue to be the main distribution and outlet channel for handicraft products and are an important opportunity for contact with the public and to show innovative handicraft and traditional products and initiatives. They take place in annual cycles, that is, once a year, at specific times and more conducive to consumption.
The Açores Artesanal project aims to create a series of markets in different islands, constituting a diversified display of what is best produced in the Azores. Its objectives are: to increase the visibility of Azorean artisanal companies; affirm an inherent identity of its own; test the economic viability of products; guarantee its quality and promotion; introduce current concepts applied to handicraft production.
