The Regional Secretariat for Youth, Professional Qualification and Employment, through Centro de Artesanato e Design dos Açores (CADA), is part of the European Artistic Craft Days, from March 27 to April 2, 2023.
As in previous years, Centro de Artesanato e Design dos Açores integrates in 2023 the programming of the European Artistic Craft Days, organized by the Institut National des Métiers d’Art, and between March 27th and April 2nd, within the framework of Projeto Raízes (Project Roots), will offer each Leisure Activity Center (C.A.T.L.) in the Region, the Raízes Catalog – Pedagogical Project for Azorean Handicrafts.
Raízes is a project by Centro de Artesanato e Design dos Açores that aims, mainly, to awaken in children and young people a greater awareness of the meaning and importance of Handicrafts in the Azores, as a cultural heritage and identity of the region.
It aims to raise awareness of children and young people to the importance and beauty of doing things with their own hands, developing their creativity and inventiveness. It is intended to make known both the art of the way of making and the traditional raw materials as well as the creative and innovative experimentation of new ways of making.
The Raízes pedagogical project is presented in the form of a Kit, which includes graphic and audiovisual material, which document and disseminate various artisanal crafts typical and representative of the islands and a series of craft proposals for work that can be implemented in a pedagogical context.
