The Regional Center for Handicrafts (CRAA) promoted , from June 14th to August 12th, the Residência Criativa 2016 Exhibition, at the Baleeiros Museum, on the island of Pico. This initiative resulted from the 4th Edition of the project Residências Criativas, which had as goal the creation of new products, with a significant and differentiating artisanal component, creating, through the integration of the products in a brand, artisans work sustainability and to reach new markets.
In the 4th edition of the Residência Criativa, the focus was on the traditional lace of the islands of Pico and Faial, through the clothing segment, inviting the fashion designer Silvia Teixeira. The mini-collection, Swing Lace, involves 12 coordinates of ready-to-wear, feminine and masculine, reflecting the inspiration of the designer in the glamor of the 30’s, adding in a subtle way the tradition and the innovation.
The artisans who welcomed the project and introduced new practices to their productions were Ana Baptista, from the island of Faial, Alzira Neves, Conceição Neves and Arménio Goulart, from the island of Pico.
