Azores in Box promotes exhibition cycle dedicated to non-traditional artisanal areas

The Azores in Box Store, at the Portas do Mar Commercial Galleries, in Ponta Delgada, is promoting a bimonthly exhibition cycle to publicize non-traditional artisanal areas and the work of its artisans, informs the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Professional Qualification and Employment, through the Azores Handicraft and Design Center (CADA).

Jeremias Tavares, who is dedicated to Fusion, an artisanal technique based on the casting of small pieces of glass, with its exposure to high temperatures, is the first guest to exhibit in this space of reference in the promotion and commercialization of regional handicrafts certified with the collective brand “Artesanato dos Açores” and innovative handicraft products.

The artisan develops decorative and utilitarian pieces, highlighting his creations with marine motifs and his lamps, with different shapes and typologies. His nativity scenes are unique. In them, glass is combined with chromed wrought iron or wood, pebble stone or burnt stone. Jewelry is also part of his product line, combining glass with silver, which makes it more refined.

The art of Jeremias Tavares is on display until the end of October at Azores in a Box, and can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 10 am and 6 pm.

The Azores in a Box Store, opened in Portas do Mar last February, currently has products from more than 100 artisanal production units from all the islands of the archipelago.
