The Vice Presidency of the Government, through the Regional Center for Handicrafts (CRAA), promotes, under the Craft & Art project, the participation of Azorean companies in URDI – Cape Verde Handicraft and Design Fair, which takes place in Mindelo, in Sao Vicente Island.
The 4th URDI, which runs from November 27 to December 1, is subordinated to the theme ‘URDIMúsica – Visual Poetics’, aiming to explore the interaction between music, handicrafts, design and other visual expressions through aesthetic, plastic and formal experiments.
In the last two editions, CRAA has bet on the presence of Azorean handicraft companies in this event, with the presence of Maria Pedro Olaio, Aida Bairos and Cristina Bairos.
This year, Azorean handicrafts will again be present, with Paulo Melo, from S. Miguel Island, with works in corn leaf, and Marina Mendonça, from Santa Maria, who presents ceramic works.
The participation in this event is part of the Craft & Art project, which aims to reposition the Azorean handicrafts, through the promotion of products with the brand Artesanato dos Açores, emphasizing the innovation and sustainability of handicraft products of the new generation of artisans.
