As the catalog of the Handicraft of the Azores, this publication focuses on the image, in close-up and brightness, valuing the handmade piece as “work of art” signed and known. Each chapter opens with a picture of the natural element that gives rise to the raw material of each type of handicraft product. The final part of the book includes a section dedicated to the contacts of the artisans, in a list organized by activities and by islands, being an important reference tool.
The entire catalog, in its quality as a promotional publication, was organized to be viewed with great simplicity and high visual and aesthetic impact, where the bilingual text assumes a complementary role, brief information, accessible and evocative. The generic character makes it our main divulging tool of the Azores artisanal culture.
It is a Government of the Azores edition, through the Regional Centre for Handicrafts, which had the commitment and expertise of its own collaborators, including a graphic design project and the production of texts, of the responsibility of the architect Rui Almeida and Alexandra Andrade, respectively.
