The Government of the Azores opens applications for the Incentive System for the Development of Azorean Handicrafts – SIDART
The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Professional Qualification and Employment, opens the application for the current year from the 13th of May to the 7th of June.

Applications, aimed at individual artisans, legal persons in any form or designation and artisan associations, provided that they are duly licensed and have an ‘artisan letter’, must be made exclusively online, on the website of Centro de Artesanato e Design dos Açores (CADA) on the Internet, at

Financial support varies between a maximum of 20 thousand euros and a minimum of 100 euros, and is non-refundable, up to a limit of 50% of eligible expenses in the case of applications from the islands of S. Miguel and Terceira and 60% in the remaining islands of the archipelago.

In this way, in addition to the budget allocation, continuous support for handicrafts is ensured in areas such as training, qualification and innovation of handcrafted products, marketing, promotion, as well as investments in production structures and equipment of the Artisanal Production Units.

The Government of the Azores highlights that it is necessary to promote greater democratization of the support provided for in SIDART, with a view to a true affirmation of artisanal production as a dynamic, innovative and sustainable sector, which actively contributes to the richness, diversity of cultural heritage and to development of the economy of the Azores.

Expo Açores Artesanato at the festivities of Santo Cristo dos Milagres
This year, Centro de Artesanato e Design dos AÇores promotes Expo Açores Artesanato – Santo Cristo, an exhibition of Azorean products and artisanal companies, integrated in the festivities of Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres, from May 20th to 23rd, at Alameda do Mar .

This exhibition is part of the circuit of regional handicraft shows associated with the festivities of each island, with a project of booths built with endogenous materials and a new decoration with the goal of contributing to a significant improvement in the commercialization of artisanal products in the Region and enhancing circulation of goods and the craft economy.

This year the event presents handcrafted products from 48 regional companies from the islands of São Miguel, Pico, Faial and Terceira that have applied for the Incentive System for the Development of Handicrafts (SIDART).

Among the many arts and crafts represented there, there will be the traditional Registos of Senhor Santo Cristo, a product certified by the brand “Artesanato dos Açores”.

The event will be open to the public from 6pm to midnight on the 20th of May and from 4pm to midnight on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of May.
