Considering that the protection of handicraft products from the Azores is essential, especially when their promotion and marketing goes beyond the regional scope, certification of origin and quality is necessary, contributing to their cultural valuation and market distinction.
Therefore, it is with great satisfaction that we inform that at the last meeting of the product certification commission, last April, the following artisans were certified: António Barreto, Mª de Lourdes Pereira, Ana Vieira and Sofia Afonso in Lapinha Christmas cribs. Mª Pedro Olaio in Ceramics and Isabel Silva Melo in Figurative Ceramics. In Weaving were certified Maria Lourenço, Lisandra Silva, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Nordeste, Eduarda Melo and Luísa Silveira, who were also certified in the Art of Working Fig Tree Kernel and Similar.
In the Art of Working the Fish Scales were certified Mª Manuela Freitas, Filomena Rebelo, Mª Fátima Freitas and Aida Barbosa.
In the Manufacture of Registos and Similar, received the certification seal Mª Fátima Rodrigues, Clementina Botelho and Cidália Carreiro, who was also certified in Embroidery Confection.
The artisans Fernanda Sousa were also certified in the Confection of Lace and Embroidery and Luísa Cabral in the Confection of Lace.
