The Creative Residence of Embroidery in Matiz, promoted by the Regional Center for Handicrafts, aimed to reinterpret, refunctionalize and reposition this embroidery on the market.
This was the 8th edition of the project Residências Criativas, through which CRAA intended to encourage the creation of new products, with a significant and differentiating artisanal component, generating sustainability for the work of artisans and the possibility of reaching new markets. It also contributed to the dissemination of techniques, materials and products developed by designers and artisans, in a creative dynamic between traditional knowledge and design.
Product designer Daniela Duarte worked together with the artisans of the Senhora da Paz Handicraft Cooperative, Lúcia Santos and Maria da Conceição Mansinho, with the artisan Maria da Paixão Resendes and with the artisan Margarida Alves.
