The big bet of CRAA in the innovation of traditional knowledge was made by the 1st Creative Residency in 2012, in which it has enhanced the craftsmanship of the island of Pico through the unique handicraft school of the Region, the Regional Handicraft School of Santo Amaro. This residency has focused mainly on the techniques of wheat straw and fish scales, with the ultimate goal of revitalizing techniques in extinction, but also innovate the existing ones, taking advantage of the expertise of local artisans, creating new product lines economically viable. Went to contest and were selected the 5 best handicraft projects to be develop together with the artisans for 2 months on the island of Pico.
