The Government of the Azores, through the Vice-Presidency, will open, between February 17 and March 31, the application period for the Incentive System for the Development of Handicrafts of the Azores (SIDART) for this year.

Applications must be made exclusively online, on the website of the Regional Center for Handicrafts (CRAA), at the electronic address www.artesanato.azores.gov.pt.

An ordinance published today in the Official Journal determines the amount of 270 thousand euros as budget allocation for the projects to be approved, in areas ranging from training to investment in Handicraft Production Units, and individual artisans, collective persons under any form or designation and artisan associations, provided they are duly licensed and have an ‘artisan card’.

Support varies between a minimum of 200 euros and a maximum of 20,000 euros, non-refundable, up to a limit of 50 percent of eligible expenses, in the case of applications from the islands of S. Miguel and Terceira, and 60 percent on the rest of the Archipelago’s islands.

The Incentive System for the Development of Handicrafts of the Azores aims to promote the sustainable development of artisanal activity within the scope of the regional economy, through a set of measures that reinforce the quality of production and the competitiveness of handicraft companies in the Azores.
