The honey produced from incense and multiflora nectars received recognition for its specific characteristics with the Denomination of Origin seal – “Mel dos Açores”
Bee farming, production of honey and beeswax, pollen and propolis, royal jelly and bee venom and packaging of products.
Artisanal honey production encompasses the following phases;
Unloading handles, manually or using a load lift; uncapping, extracting, filtering, decanting and homogenizing honey with small equipment; packaging and equipment; packaging and hygiene of packaging by manual process; storage and dispatch of products manually or using freight elevators:
Honey produced by hand cannot be subjected to any process that alters its physical and chemical qualities, namely pasteurization or heating, so it must be guaranteed that the product maintains its natural qualities until it reaches the final consumer.
