Biography:

She took the Ceramics course at AR.CO - Center for Art and Visual Communication, in Lisbon. She was professor of Ceramics and monitor of Plastic Arts in primary schools, in the Misericórdia de Almada and at Centro Cultural Roque Gameiro, in Amadora. Since 1996 she develops her work regularly as a ceramist. She works with liquid clay for molds, red clay, faience, sandstone, using ballast and roll technique.

After many years in Lisbon, she returned to the Azores. The islands and their natural landscape greatly influence her work. She likes the imperfections that the clay leaves in his pieces and that makes them unique.

Marina Mendonça integrates, since October 2019, the Azores Craft Lab – Handicrafts of the Azores Incubator, with her project Marina Mendonça Cerâmica.
