He developed the taste for handicrafts during his childhood, later improving when he joined as a worker in Cerâmica Vieira, in Lagoa.

António Amaral is a clay figurine master whose work reflects the Azorean cultural and ethnographic heritage, through the representation of ethnographic scenes and typical nativity scene figures.
