
Expo Açores Artesanato – Santo Cristo from 23 to 29 of May in Portas do Mar
The Azores Handicraft Fair, promoted by the Regional Secretariat for Youth, Housing and Employment, through the Crafts and Design Centre of the Azores (CADA), kicks off on Friday, May 23, as part of the Santo Cristo dos Milagres Festivities in Ponta Delgada.
This edition begins the new season of local handicraft fairs associated with the Region's main summer festivities. It will feature 54 artisans from various islands of the archipelago, including 21 Craft Production Units with products certified by the "Azorean Handicrafts" collective brand.
The crafts on display will feature plant fibres, embroidery, lace, textiles, whalebone, fish scales, "lapinha" (sea-themed) nativity scenes, jewellery, pewter, iron, figurative ceramics, wood, glass, figurines, shells, Senhor Santo Cristo "registos" (representations), toy making, cake production, confectionery and honey production, among others.
The Azores Handicraft Fair Santo Cristo 2025 will be part of the Azores Industry, Commerce and Services Fair (FICSA), an initiative organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ponta Delgada to be held at the Alameda Pavilhão do Mar in Portas do Mar.
The fair can be visited from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. on May 23; from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. on May 24, 25, 26 and 29; and from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on May 27 and 28.
The Azores Handicraft fair cycle will then continue with the Sanjoaninas festivities, on Terceira Island, from June 20 to 29; the Velas Cultural Week, on São Jorge Island, from July 1 to 6; the Calhetas Festivities, also in São Jorge, from July 10 to 14; the Praia Festivities, on Terceira Island, from August 1 to 11; and the Sea Weak, on Faial Island, from August 1 to 10.
Also in August, the Azores Handicraft Fair will be at the Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres festivities, in Graciosa, from August 7 to 12, and at Whalers' Week, in Pico, from August 25 to 31, closing with the Christmas Fair in São Miguel from November 27 to December 1.
