Last April, between the 15th and 18th, the CIRCUL'ARTS meeting took place at the Sacred Art Center of the Carlos Machado Museum. CIRCUL'ARTS is a multidisciplinary and international research and mobility network, part of the COST Actions program (Horizon Europe). The meeting brought together researchers from different disciplinary areas and geographies, who, through the various programmed activities, reflected on the theme "Inspiring Circular Futures: Territory, Knowledge and Community".
CADA was present on April 17th, promoting a workshop on banana fiber aimed at the eleven trainees of the CIRCUL'ARTS Training School, as well as participating in the round table "How can artistic gestures incorporate circular abundance?". In this session, the services of CADA were presented — as a governmental entity responsible for the valorization, production and safeguarding of regional crafts — whose action is developed in the areas of research, training, certification, promotion and support for artisans.
This participation resulted in opportunities for collaboration and promotion of regional crafts, through initiatives currently in the planning stages, namely: a documentary about the artisanal knowledge of the Azores; a research project dedicated to the knowledge systems and ways of doing things associated with crafts in peripheral and outermost European regions; and the hosting of the artist and researcher Lena Pozdnyakova, as part of her work with senior artisans as part of the Petelka.gift project.
