The Azores Craft and Design Center (CADA) promoted “Semana de Artesanato de São Jorge” (Handicrafts Week of São Jorge), which took place from July 2nd to 5th in Velas de São Jorge, with a diverse program during the Velas de São Jorge Cultural Week.

This Crafts Week included daily activities at the Crafts Support Center (ADISJ), organized around four themes: Clay Day, Wool Day, Corn Leaf Day, and Fish Scale Day. At the same time, a crafts exhibition took place at the Municipal Market. Guided tours were also conducted at two artisanal production units, namely, the Urzelinense Bakery Company, Ltd. and the ceramics workshop of António Pedroso.

An information session on the themes of registration and support measures for crafts was also held at the Casa Museu Cunha da Silveira.

With this set of initiatives, CADA sought, as is its hallmark, to value and promote regional handicrafts, reinforcing their cultural and economic relevance in the context of Velas Cultural Week.
