The Azores Crafts and Design Center, in partnership with the Island Services of the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action, promoted several workshops focused on sustainability, local crafts and the appreciation of natural heritage, which took place throughout the past month of March, as part of the 4th edition of the Azores Biosphere Reserves Festival.
On the island of São Jorge, a Macrame Workshop was held at the Handicrafts Support Center in Velas, a Wicker Workshop in partnership with the Parish of Santo Antão, and a Fish Scales Workshop in partnership with the Association for the Development of the island of São Jorge;
On the island of Graciosa, a Patchwork workshop based on the use of scraps and another on crochet, with the Amigurumi technique.
On the island of Flores, a basic sewing course and an introductory course to silk painting, based on the tradition implemented on the island by the French community, which once created the silk club, and whose objective is to encourage the creation of value in the making of textile articles, whether fashion accessories or household items.
