The exhibition on the theme “Indigenous Materials of the Azores” is still open to the public at Azores in a Box until the end of April.
It is a fusion of art and territorial appreciation where ancestral techniques are combined with material experimentation. In this space, the pieces represented show the materials and ways of preserving, reinventing and innovating by the hands of experienced artisans, each in their craft area, highlighting the use of sustainable and local resources.
During the time it will be on display, it will be possible to appreciate the works of about seven (7) Azorean artisans, from activities ranging from vegetable fibers, such as corn leafs; cattail; wicker. Volcanic stones (such as basalt), whalebone and various woods, promoting versatility and always with a view to the circular economy.
This group exhibition stands out for transforming local raw materials into pieces of artistic value, celebrating the identity of the islands and the art of the artisans who are part of it and it will be open to the public at Azores in a Box from March 6th to April 30th, Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm and from 1:30pm to 6pm.
