Attribution of the collective brand seal “Artesanato Dos Açores”

08 May 2026

The collective brand “Artesanato dos Açores” was created in 1998 and is currently regulated by Ordinance No. 111/2021, of October 14, 2021, which defines all the terms, conditions, and certifiable activities. CADA increasingly considers the defense of handicrafts and their artisans and sees certification as cultural valorization and as proof of their origin and quality.

Last April, another meeting of the Technical Monitoring Committee (C.A.T.) took place, resulting in new attributions of the collective brand seal “Artesanato dos Açores”, to be added to the 192 already existing.

The attribution of the seal is made according to the submission of an application (available on the CADA’s website), and the artisans' pieces are analysed by an independent Technical Monitoring Committee (C.A.T.). Then, and in accordance with the aforementioned Ordinance and its annexes, the pieces submitted for analysis must comply with certain parameters so that the result of the artisans' work is increasingly validated and valued, and they are recognized for their quality, rigor, and willingness to keep their activities and traditions alive.
