Biography:

Berta Paiva is a creator of fish scales works, one of the most expressive ornamental traditions of the Azorean handicrafts. From the improvement of her techniques, resulted in, among others, monochromatic vegetal compositions, from which flowers emerge that stand out for the ivory purity of their texture. The disposition of the scales, cut and arranged with silver bugle beads, result in an implosion of light, contained by traditional bell jars or by sober wooden frames.
