Biography:

Salomé Vieira is a native of the island of Faial. At age 18, she began to help her mother-in-law, Margarida do Vale, pulling yarns and making riddle embroidery. Today she is one of the few artisans who holds this knowledge.

In addition to the riddle embroidery Salomé also makes regional costumes and several unique pieces in patchwork.
