In August, the Expo Açores Artesanato exhibition continues, a circuit associated with the main summer festivities of the Region, essential for the promotion and commercialization of products from the Azorean artisanal production units, promoted by the Government of the Azores, through Centro de Artesanato e Design dos Açores (CADA).
From the 7th to the 14th of August, the city of Horta hosts the Expo Açores Artesanato – Semana do Mar. Eight artisanal production units will be present at this event, from Faial, Pico, São Jorge and São Miguel, which will bring their ceramic , home textiles, clothing, fish scales and paper engraving works to the exhibition and sale.
On the first day, August 7th, the fair will be open between 11am and 11pm. On the following days, it can be visited between 7pm and 11pm, in a tent space next to the Alagoa Stadium.
From the 11th to the 16th of August, Santa Cruz will host the Expo Açores Artesanato Local, as part of Festas do Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres. At this event, works from ten artisanal production units of Graciosa will be on display and sale, such as embroidery and other home textiles, wooden utensils, decorative pieces and jewelry.
Expo Açores Artesanato – Semana dos Baleeiros will take place from August 22nd to 28th. Works from nine artisanal production units will be on display and sale, seven from Pico, one from Terceira and one from São Jorge, in a display of products from artisanal areas as varied as ceramics, the art of working bone, horn and the others, the manufacture of jewellery, the production of lace items, the production of textile articles for the home and the art of working glass.
The event can be visited at the Lajes do Pico Sports Pavilion.
