The Azores in a box store during the month of December will have several Christmas items available for sale.
These are ancient traditions of the Azorean Christmas: germinate the wheat and the vetch that, together with the oranges and the tangerines, will decorate the Nativity Scene or the Altar of the Child; set up the Nativity Scene or Lapinha or the Altar; decorate the house with branches of cryptomeria, pine, cedar or incense, because the scents are also part of the festivities; place the most beautiful tablecloth on the table and on top of it, corn and wheat bread, massa sovada, dried figs, carob and sweet rice, as well as homemade blackberry, orange and tangerine liqueurs for the Menino Mija.
Then, people leave the door open to family and friends, sharing with them the best they have. As for the traditional exchange of gifts, at this time of the year the act of giving is always more special. To offer a craftwork of the Azores in a Box is to present someone with a unique creation of our artisans, made by the hands of those who have mastered the know-how of generations, combining tradition and innovation.
All products exhibited are certified by the collective brand Artesanato dos Açores or were created within the scope of projects promoted by CRAA, such as the Creative Residences or Azores CraftLab – Azores Handicraft Incubator.
Located at Rua Conselheiro Luís Bettencourt nº 24, in Ponta Delgada, Azores in a box is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am to 1 pm.
